Therefore, if you peer computers are in the same local network, there is no need for you to setup any network connection. What you need to do is running Backup Cow on all networked PCs. Then you can backup or restore files over LAN.
Connection over Remote Network
If your peer computers are not in the same local network, you need to set up Remote Network connection. Here are two ways to do that:
1. Join a Group (Recommended)
All Backup Cow users can connect together by joining the same network group: "Backup-Network-Join a Group".
(You must create a group account firstly, then two computers log in the same group.)
In this way, two computers can be connected together.
2. Connect to a Computer
You can connect to a remote PC by directly entering its IP/domain and port number: “Backup-Network -- Connect to a Computer”.
Now you can start to backup files between two computers.
Backup Cow can monitor the source files or folders, and automatically synchronize files between cloud computers and backup the new or changed files onto the cloud again. You can set auto sync time to accomplish the auto-scheduled backup.
Moreover，encryption is one of the most important features of Backup Cow. It allows you to encrypt all your folders and files for backup. You can encrypt backup items with a pre-set password. After that, none of the users can obtain encrypted files if they don’t have the password.
Here are the ways to encrypt backups:
• Click on "Backup-Add Backup Item-General", then tick "Encrypt backup files".
• Enter the password and password hint.
Encryption setting lets you protect your files from unauthorized usage.
